NEW MUSIC 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS!

So, yes i've been slack over the last few months, too many parties, too much work and too much holiday!

First up, a quick review of a wonderful gig i saw on saturday night at Yah Yah's. My first gig of the year was Oh Mercy lead singer Alexander Gow headlining a stripped back, acoustic show at Smith Street's Yah Yah's and what a wonderful evening it was. I spent the day at a friends birthday party in carlton gardens and then strolled down the wonderfully bohemian streets of brunswick! Turns out the support band, Kieran Ryan from Kid Sam was a housemate of said friend whose party i was attending, which can i just say totally blew my mind! Kieran's gig was beautiful (yes i am a fangirl!) as was Alexander Gow's and their wonderful rendition of Icehouse's Great Southern Land was the highlight of the evening!

Check out Oh Mercy on their myspace page and Kieran Ryan and Kid Sam at their myspace page

Now to the new music i'm really digging at the moment.

Firstly, Smith Westerns- a bunch of 19-20 year olds from Chicago making Thin Lizzy type music have released their second album and i'm totally in love with them! Weekend is their single check it out below!

Tennis are next up- god these guys have been my soundtrack to summer- layed back, beautiful, makes me want to dance in a summer dress on the beach!

Foster the People-Pumped Up Kicks

This song just will not leave my head. Nuf said! Check it out below!

The Vaccines-Wrecking Bar (Ra Ra Ra)

A mix between The Clash/Sex Pistols and The Jam, Punk and Mod at the same time-these guys have been hailed as the next big thing on NME- i just dig the music!

Check them out below!
