HALCYON DIGEST: A POST ON MY NEW FAVOURITE ALBUM BY DEERHUNTER

So I have a confession.

I have tickets to the Laneway Festival. I am probably a bit of an indie wanker and will see Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti as well as Yeasayer. But one band I am not slightly guilty of loving is Deerhunter. Their new album, Halcyon Digest is amazing! Swoon worthy even. I have not been able to stop listening to this since i got it last week. A Mix of Shoegazer and Rock n Roll this album is bliss!

From Revival, to Memory Boy, to stand out Desire Lines ( the guitar solo on this track is just beyond orgasmic swoon, yes i used orgasmic), to the sax infused Coronado ( lead singer Bradford Cox admitted that he listened to the Rolling Stones Exile on Main St and wanted a sax to replicate that masterpiece), Halcyon Digest is one brilliant album. Tied for first in my albums of the year with the Walkmen's Lisbon.

Ok-this video is far too cute to not post. The Old Spice ads have been spoofed by just about everyone, but this takes the cake. I give you Grover and Smell Like a Monster:

CLOUD CONTROL DEBUT IS BLISS

Blue Mountain based band Cloud Control's debut album "Bliss Release" came out earlier this year, and is a stunner of an album that keeps growing on me. My sister gave me their first EP Cloud Control and after listening to Buffolo Country, i fell in love with this band.

From opening track Mediation Song #2 (why, oh why), to Ghost Story and My Fear #2, the debut blends a mix of fleet foxes, vampire weekend, the cure, and talking heads. Singles Gold canary, There's nothing in the water and death cloud are all gems. For Bliss release, Cloud Control received 3 nominations at this years Aria awards, and they are much deserved.
